About me

I’m Chengchao Li, a New York–based photographer and multimedia journalist covering labor, Asian American communities and arts education. My work includes photo essays, short videos and social content, from a teaching artist’s classrooms to the people and places that sustain neighborhood life.

I grew up in Hangzhou and Fuzhou, China, and work in English and Mandarin. I interview and report in both languages, bringing that bilingual practice to written stories, photography and video.

I earned my M.S. in Journalism at Columbia University in May 2026, after studying Journalism and International Relations at Boston University. My experience includes CUNY K16 Initiatives, seasonal internships at Commonpoint Queens and production support at BU Productions. My photographs appeared in a class exhibition at the Bronx Documentary Center in 2026. I’m a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
